We follow a specific procedure (shutdown) before beginning
a job in a factory or mill:
- Lock main control panel. Put key in safe place.
- Shut off breakers for the main electrical supply.
- Every employee must place a padlock on the main breakert
with the names of the workers, telephone number, date
and time of the shutdown.
- The air pressure sources must be locked the same way.
- Hose down workplace with water before cutting or welding
and also locate fire extinguishers.
- Workplace must be hosed down before leaving for meals
and once the work is done.
- When job is finished, the workplace must be secured,
equipment and tools put away and checked for any anomalies.
- Remove padlocks and stickers on the main electrical
supply sand put power back on.
- Unlock main control panel.
- Advise all personnel before starting equipment.
